This award-winning musical cooking performance walks a line between pop-up dinner party, late night supper club, traditional cabaret and cooking demonstration.
MasterChef meets The Voice – guests are serenaded by the soulful songstress as she cooks and serves up a taste of a three-course meal for the audience to devour. Yes, that’s right! The audience gets fed!
Comfort Food Cabaret has played sold out seasons at the Adelaide Fringe Festival in 2017 & 2018, Melbourne Fringe in 2017 and Tasting Australia in 2018. The show has also been performed at exclusive celebrations in private homes, at cooking schools and wineries around Australia.
In 2017, Comfort Food Cabaret won Best New Cabaret (professional) at the Adelaide Theatre Guide Awards and in its opening year, the show received rave reviews from both critics and audiences which were matched in 2018. Comfort Food Cabaret has proved to be a popular festival choice as audiences love Michelle’s indulgent cooking, her remarkable sound, her heartfelt storytelling and her incredible interpretations of popular rock, pop & jazz hits accompanied by well-fed maestro, Aaron Nash on keys.
This 85-minute cooking cabaret, proudly supported by the Made In Adelaide program and presented by C Venues, will play 14 performances at the Edinburgh Newtown Cookery School on Queen Street, Edinburgh. Audience members will learn about the food, fresh produce and recipes and will be served small tastes of each dish cooked during the show.

Michelle Pearson is a distinguished and award winning cabaret performer, entertainer and vocalist who also doubles as a cook, caterer and events manager. Well known for her powerful and soulful sound, moving interpretations of songs and warmth and honesty in performance, Michelle Pearson’s voice is impressive.
Born and living in South Australia, Michelle is well known for her hit food and music sensation, Comfort Food Cabaret and Aussie rock hit, Michelle and The Gentlemen’s Club. Michelle regularly performs at exclusive corporate and community events and also plays weddings and private celebrations with her band and hosts musical dinner parties where she combines her love of cooking with music.
Michelle has also performed in professional Australian productions of Les Miserables (Eponine) and semi-professional productions of Miss Saigon (Ellen) and has worked alongside Aussie actors and performers Normie Rowe and TJ Power in musical productions.
Michelle won South Australia’s award for Cabaret in 2017 at the Adelaide Theatre Guide Awards for her self-written musical food sensation, Comfort Food Cabaret.
Michelle also doubles as a cook, caterer and event manager and has over ten years’ experience in events, public relations, promotions and arts and operations management. She operates several small businesses including Empress Music, Cooking Culture and The Bridal Breakfast. All her work combines her passions for music, cooking and memorable food experiences.
